WHAT IS SPORTS MEDICINE?
Sports medicine is a subspecialty of medicine that is specific to physical fitness and the treatment and prevention of injuries related to sports and exercise. This subsection of physical therapy requires a deeper understanding of exercise science as well as sport-specific biomechanics, for the prevention and full rehabilitation of sports-related injuries.
WHAT DOES A SPORTS MEDICINE EVALUATION LOOK LIKE?
Your Physical Therapist will assess your strength, flexibility, range of motion, and analyze performed movements specific to your sport; and formulate a plan to address deficits found to decrease pain, increase strength and stability, improve coordination, and prevent injury.
